Elizabeth Massawe
Project Officer
CKU Likamba Project - Arusha
Elizabeth Gabriel Masawe is a dedicated Rural Development and Community Development Practitioner with over three years of experience supporting the implementation, monitoring and documentation of community-based development programs in rural and urban settings. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Rural Development from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and has practical experience in agricultural extension, community mobilization, farmer-group facilitation, agroecology, conservation agriculture, poultry farming, Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA), and project monitoring.
Currently serving as a Project Officer with Research, Community and Organizational Development Associates (RECODA), Elizabeth supports the implementation of community livelihood and resilience initiatives, including the CKU–Likamba 2 project. Her responsibilities include mobilizing and facilitating farmer groups, conducting agricultural training, following up on demonstration plots, collecting and managing field data using Kobo Toolbox, undertaking household assessments, monitoring project activities, preparing periodic reports, and providing supportive supervision to community groups. She also supports the training and mentoring of Spreading Lead Farmers on agricultural technologies, poultry production and Village Savings and Loans Associations, as well as farmer-network formation and advocacy activities.
Elizabeth has additional experience with the Kilimo Endelevu Arusha (KEA) project, where she facilitated farmers on good agricultural practices, conservation agriculture, crop diversification and environmental conservation, including the use of organic pesticides and fertilizers. She also participated in the digital documentation of RIPAT activities through Mobile Data Collection and GIS-based platforms.
Her earlier experience includes working as a Field-Project Officer on the RIPAT-SUA Morogoro project, where she supported VSLA activities, participated in project implementation, contributed to value-chain studies for selected crops, and monitored farmers’ adoption of agricultural technologies. She also gained field-level monitoring and development experience through practical work with NIDA Information and temporary data-collection experience with the National Bureau of Statistics.
Her areas of technical competence include poultry farming; agroecology, agroforestry and conservation agriculture; vegetable-garden establishment; VSLA; community mobilization and farmer-group facilitation; project monitoring and reporting; and digital data collection using Kobo Toolbox, Mobile Data Collection and GIS platforms.
Elizabeth combines practical field experience with strong communication, teamwork, organizational and reporting skills. She is committed to participatory approaches, sustainable rural development, agricultural transformation and strengthening the capacity of farming communities to improve their livelihoods and resilience.
