Monitoring Learning and Evaluation
Lyatuu Thomas is a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) specialist, researcher and consultant with more than 10 years of experience working with local and international non-governmental organisations. He has extensive experience in project planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, research, proposal development, budgeting, data management, analysis, visualisation, reporting and stakeholder engagement. He is currently serving as a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at RECODA, where he has worked since 2016.
In his current role, Thomas supports multiple projects by developing and implementing M&E frameworks, conducting baseline, mid-term and endline surveys, managing digital data collection, ensuring data quality, analysing project data and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports. He has also trained field teams on digital data collection and reporting procedures and contributed to strengthening monitoring systems and donor reporting.
Thomas holds a Master of Arts in Project Management and Evaluation from Sokoine University of Agriculture and a Bachelor's Degree in Community Development with a focus on Management of Community Development Programs. His technical competencies include KoboToolbox, Excel, SPSS, STATA, Power BI, GIS, data visualisation, research and evaluation, project planning and management, and data quality management
Beyond his organisational role, Thomas has undertaken consultancy and research assignments covering baseline surveys, project evaluations, strategic planning, capacity building in digital data collection and data management for academic and development projects across several regions of Tanzania. He has also contributed to publications on smallholder farmers' well-being and food security, demonstrating his interest and experience in applied research and evidence-based development programming.
